Judge’s Commentary
Murder on Rosemary Street by Mary Fulk Larson is a charming yet suspenseful novel written by three skilled authors who know how to appeal to their readers through strong characterization and a competently written story. After finishing this story, I suspect fans will look for other novels in A Custer's Hill Mystery series.
The cover is attractive and intriguing with the swirl of colors in the night sky creating movement that hints of something unseen. The back cover copy is as easy to read, as it is intriguing. The packaging of this book does its job of compelling prospective readers to open it and start reading.
The prologue creates story questions that are answered in the following chapters.
I like the date stamps on the prologue and first chapter. Without making a fuss, this lets the readers know so they don't have to go back and try to figure out when the events happen. Great decision to do this!
The characters are all sympathetic. At times they made me smile, and I worried about them as they moved from one scene to the next. The dialogue came across natural and true to each person.
